In each of the past two school years, Plaza Vista has been selected as one of 16 IUSD elementary schools to take part in Team Up For Character in conjunction with the NAIA Men's Soccer Championships in early December. This event provides two quality opportunities for students. The first is an opportunity for students to observe the highest level of soccer played by collegiate teams in the nation. The second, and most important, is for students to witness college athletes as they demonstrate the highest level of positive behavior traits that we also encourage all of our students to demonstrate. This is done through interaction with 5th grade students during an hour-long soccer clinic. The IUSD-PBIS program goes hand-in-hand with the NAIA character development program centered around these five Core Values for all of their athletes: Integrity, Respect, Responsibility, Sportsmanship, Servant Leadership. In December 2018 Plaza Vista 5th graders got to interact with members of the Mid-America Christian University soccer team from Oklahoma. A year later we were visited by University of Rio Grande, from southeastern Ohio.
